It’s become A Thing that no actor or actress has won an Emmy for their time on Mad Men. That’s Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, John Slattery, Robert Morse, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, Cara Buono, Randee Heller, Jared Harris, Ben Feldman, Julia Ormond, Harry Hamlin, Linda Cardellini — all nominated, all shut out. It’s especially painful for Hamm and Moss, because they also lost for their roles on 30 Rock and Top of the Lake. But Moss will soon have another shot, because the fantastic Sundance Channel series is returning for an unexpected second season.
The sequel to Top of the Lake will be set and shot in Sydney.
Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss returns as Detective Robin Griffin, who investigates a criminal case in the Harbour City. Jane Campion and Gerard Lee, who created the original 6-part series, are writing the scripts for Top of the Lake 2. (Via)
I desperately hope it’s called 2 Top 2 Lake. Anyway, Moss won’t be the only Mad Men alumna on Sundance. There’s Rectify‘s Abigail Spencer, of course, and Christina Hendricks dropped out of Cameron Crowe’s Roadies to star in Hap and Leonard, which “centers on friends Hap Collins, a white working-class ex-con played by James Purefoy, and Leonard Pine, an openly gay, black Vietnam vet with anger issues played by Michael Kenneth Williams.” Hendricks will play Hap’s ex-wife. Expect Moss and Hendricks to fight for that elusive Emmy, because the world is cruel.
