Way back in March, soon after Kim Dickens was cast as the female lead in Fear the Walking Dead, she joked that — with the change of location to Los Angeles — we’d be seeing a different kind of zombie than we’re used to seeing. “We’re going to have sexy zombies!” she said.
She wasn’t entirely wrong. Moreover, in May, showrunner Scott Erickson said that the series wouldn’t go “full zombie,” by which he meant that the zombies have only just turned, so there’s no decomposition yet, as opposed to revolting The Walking Dead zombies, which have been decomposing for six seasons.
In other words, Fear the Walking Dead laid the foundation for the first opportunities to see zombies with whom you might actually be attracted. To wit:
Save for the eyes, and the fact that she’s EATING SOMEONE’S FACE, there’s nothing here to suggest that this woman is a zombie.
Clean her up, get her a new outfit, and you could probably throw her back on the street and no one would notice in Los Angeles. She’d probably still get catcalls at construction sites. “Hey, baby! Nice ass! What’s with the shuffle? You feeling down today?”
And that’ll be the day that a catcaller finally gets his due.
But don’t worry. Fear the Walking Dead isn’t going to shirk when it comes to gore, as illustrated here:
In Los Angeles, though, that guy just gets mistaken for a horror movie extra.
Fear the Walking Dead premieres in late August.
