Netflix’s Daredevil is currently filming its second season in New York. Given the highly-rated audience response to the first crop of episodes, there’s even more buzz and anticipation for the new season coming to the streaming service next year. With the addition of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra, the new episodes look to be as compelling as the first season, if not more-so.
Last week, a seemingly mild-mannered tweet from Marvel’s official Daredevil Twitter account caused speculation to run wild that Melvin Potter (played by Matt Gerald) will have a bigger role as his villainous alter ego Gladiator in the new season.

This next sentence is a bit spoilery so tread lightly if you’ve not seen the series yet. In the first season of the series, Matt Murdock approaches Melvin — who’s quite the talented designer — to provide an upgrade to his costume from the basic black to the armored outfit we now know and love. The above image alludes to an appearance of the bad guy persona Potter takes on in the comics, as Gladiator sure does love them buzzsaws.
The introduction of both Punisher and Elektra is sure to keep Matt Murdock busy throughout the new season. However, with plenty of Easter Eggs thrown into the episodes in which Melvin appeared this year, it seems like a safe bet that some sort of conflict between Gladiator and The Man Without Fear will definitely be taking place.
