Steph Curry And His Family Were Tailed By A Crazy Autograph-Seeker For 30 Miles

Steph Curry is arguably the most accessible superstar in basketball. He’s a willing, thoughtful interview; boasts a plethora of nationwide endorsement deals; and is an engaging and amusing, if somewhat infrequent, social-media user. Oh, then there’s the fact that his daughter, Riley, has essentially become as big a celebrity as he was several years ago.

If a fan is intent on meeting the reigning MVP and even getting his signature, basically, it wouldn’t be impossible to do so. The same certainly can’t be said for luminaries like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant. Curry has yet to completely lose the sense of normalcy that accompanies a celebrity of his stature.

But anyone, basketball icon or not, would be disturbed by the behavior of a recent Curry autograph-seeker.

Yikes.

Some professional athletes aren’t much different than movie or music stars, and Curry fits the bill. Those with his name recognition should always be wary of zany fan interaction. It’s precisely why some celebrities, no matter their venue, convey such a restricted public persona. The crazies are out there.

How was Curry to know that this wildly inappropriate fan wasn’t one of them? And even if he could somehow tell this person simply wanted an autograph and nothing more, the Golden State Warriors icon is never entitled to give one. We’re almost surprised Curry didn’t call the police. His wife and two young daughters were in the car!

We might as well repeat Steph’s PSA: Don’t tail the vehicles of celebrities in hopes of interaction, people. It’s flat-out unacceptable behavior.
