Say what you will about Donald Trump, but one undeniable fact about him remains: He’s kept what would otherwise have been a painfully slow summer news cycle entertaining, as many in the media have expressed. Between his spiffy new hat that he’s rarely seen without, “bleeding from her whatever,” and so on and so forth, he’s the red-faced, sh*t-flinging gift that keeps on giving.
But, despite our mockery and revelry, there is also a very real threat in Donald Trump. His poll numbers are steadfast, and he is now leading with 24 percent of voters, while Jeb Bush is in second place holding at a paltry 13 percent. So, should we, uh, start to be concerned about this?
According to Seth Meyers, we shouldn’t be concerned. On Tuesday’s Late Night, Meyers explained that there is an entire world of difference between saying that you’re going to vote for someone and actually voting for them. Meyers likened the pissed off people disillusioned with politicians who claim to be voting for Trump to getting drunk at the bar Friday night, and drunkenly saying that you’re going to tell your boss you quit on Monday morning.
He says: “It’s fine! He’s not going to win anything. It’s fine.” For all our sake, I hope he’s right. Otherwise, you know where to send your hate mail when President Trump takes office.
