Ever since women started coming forward accusing Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them, people have wondered how much Lisa Bonet–who famously clashed with Cosby when she played his TV daughter–thinks and knows of these allegations. Now, we have an answer, or a likely one, from Bonet’s daughter, Zoe Kravitz.
Kravitz spoke to the Guardian in an article published Thursday about the accusations:
I ask Zoë if her mother had talked to her about the allegations. “She hasn’t, she really hasn’t,” she says. “She’d plead the fifth, even to me. I think she’s just staying out of it. She’s just as disgusted and concerned as everyone else is, but I don’t think she has any insight. It’s news to her as well.”
Sounds like a straightforward enough response. Now, what of speculation that Bonet might have also been a victim? Kravitz says she understands why people would consider conclusions like that:
“Of course,” she says. “She was on the show for a long time. She’s also a beautiful woman. It makes people wonder. She’s a very straightforward person. If there was something she felt the world needed to know that would help this case or help any women who had been abused, she would say something.”
Almost 40 women have accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault. Thirty-five of them appeared together on a landmark cover of New York Magazine. An LAPD investigation is ongoing, but charges have not been filed again Cosby. The comedian will undergo a deposition on Oct. 9 about the accusations.
