Since the beginning, musicians have been appearing on Portlandia in cameo roles, owing largely to the fact that Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen are engrained in the world of music to different degrees. As such, it is never a surprise when a musician shows up on Portlandia, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be delightful, especially when the musician in question is Glenn Danzig.
Brownstein posted a picture of herself, Armisen, and the king of eerie goth rock himself, Danzig, filming the show. “Summer Goths. With Danzig. Dreams (nightmares?) do come true” reads Brownstein’s caption on her Instagram post. The picture itself is delightful, what with Armisen’s pale face and bright green Billabong shirt and Danzig wearing shorts and an open shirt while holding what appears to be a summery wine.
Portlandia being what it is, goths are an occasional topic on the show, and Summer Goths are an actual thing, inexplicably, but if you watch Portlandia you probably know that. Regardless, despite the fact that Danzig is not exactly the greatest guy, it seems like whatever Carrie and Fred have him doing on their show is going to be funny. It’s a nice way for him to entertain us now that he no longer lives in that crazy house of his.
