The Obvious Choice For What’s On Tonight: The Series Premiere Of ‘The Carmichael Show’

NOTE: Tonight’s previously scheduled season finale of Mr. Robot has been pulled by USA due to scenes “similar in nature” to today’s shootings in Virginia.

The Obvious Choice: The Carmichael Show (NBC, 9:00 p.m.) — From the mind of comedian Jerrod Carmichael comes a new sitcom focused on the generational differences between he and his parents. Yes, David Alan Grier plays Carmichael’s father and, yes, he wears a T-shirt with an ironed-on Photoshop of President Obama as Neo from The Matrix.

Key & Peele (Comedy Central, 10:00 p.m.) —  Snitches get stitches … but also delicious ‘za for spillin’ they guts to the PO-lice ’bout who shot up dat liquor sto, doe. Keegan-Michael Key has a hard time trusting a member of his crew who might be talking to the authorities.

Why? With Hannibal Buress (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.) — The final episode of the first season of Why? With Hannibal Buress is basically just a shameless plug for Sprite. He wishes he had gotten better at integrating his product placement into the sketch comedy, but ya live and ya learn.

America’s Next Top Model (The CW, 8:00 p.m.) — The models experience all the feels when they honor war heroes with a themed shoot. Later, after mortality, sacrifice and the fragility of the human condition have been put in the proper perspective, a model locks herself in the bathroom during a freakout over her new look.

MasterChef (FOX, 8:00 p.m.) — The contestants get a taste of what it’s really like to run a restaurant kitchen when they … run a restaurant kitchen. Diners in a downtown L.A. spot get treated to two appetizers and two entrees. Losers make pasta.

Extant (CBS, 9:00 p.m.) — The Global Space Commission is skeptical of Shepherd’s allegiance and Molly’s seeing some disturbing things. Maybe she should talk to dead Bruce Willis about it.

Suits (USA, 9:00 p.m.) — Jessica and Louis frantically rally the troops as Jack and Daniel stage a coup de tat at the firm. Meanwhile, Mike has a crisis of faith and Harvey deals with his mommy issues as flashbacks detail how their backstories led them to the same situation.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Jeffrey Tambor, Al Madrigal and Ashley Monroe on Conan; Miley Cyrus, Ali Wentworth and Andy Grammer on Kimmel.
