After the less-than-fantastic reception for Fantastic Four, you’d think Michael B. Jordan would be ready to take a breather from comic book movies, but nope, he’s getting right back up on that four-color horse. Word is Jordan will be co-starring in Blood Brothers, a horror-action-comedy based on the Dark Horse comic series of the same name by writers Mike Gagerman, Andrew Waller and artist Evan Shaner.
Blood Brothers is a blood-sucking bromance about two vampires named Nick and Tree (yes, Tree) who have been best friends for a thousand years. A vampire midlife crisis is threatening to tear these platonic life-mates apart, but they’re brought back together to save the world when it’s facing an apocalyptic threat. So yeah, not exactly shocking this comic got optioned for a movie.
Blood Brothers has been in development for a while, with Etan Cohen (Get Hard, Men in Black 3) and Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) taking cracks at the script. Word is that those scripts weren’t quite right, and the producers are now looking for a new writer/director to take Blood Brothers in a slightly more grounded direction. So far, there’s no word on who Jordan’s co-star will be.
Hopefully this comic book movie works out for Michael B. Jordan, because the dude is obviously a huge talent, and deserves better than Fantastic Four. What are your thoughts on the Blood Brothers premise?
