🔥NO HITTER!🔥@Max_Scherzer
2nd No-No this year against 2 playoff teams!!!#dominant pic.twitter.com/5U5pKAkQSL— Troy Silva (@TroyPSilva) October 4, 2015
Washington Nationals starter Max Scherzer struck out 17 Mets hitters en route to his second no-hitter this year, becoming the first pitcher to throw two no-hitters in the same season since Nolan Ryan in 1973. He’s the first pitcher in MLB history to throw two no-hitters without giving up a walk in either game. As it happens, he was only one throwing error away from a perfect game.
Scherzer finished with 17 strikeouts against 24 batters faced, with nine of those punch-outs coming consecutively. The Nationals needed this type of performance, too, managing to only get two runs on the Mets.
Max Scherzer had 1 career complete game before this season. Now 4 CGs this season, two of which are no-hitters. Crazy.

It’s too bad the Nationals aren’t playing for anything but pride this late in the season but, hey, at least it’ll put a positive spotlight on the club after their recent Papelbon-Harper fiasco.
