On Saturday, a number of wonderful local celebrities, from the mayor to Ohio University football coach Frank Solich, put their pride and humility on the backburners for a good cause, as they competed in a series of tricycle races as part of a fundraiser for OhioHealth Heart and Vascular at the O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. According to the Athens Messenger, Athens police officer Rick Crossen was the big winner of the races, as he edged out Dr. Peggy Lionberger and Solich in the final race of the day.
As you can see in the above video, Solich took a mighty spill to eliminate himself from contention, but he was still a pretty darn good sport to go out there and put on a show at his own expense for the sake of raising money for people in need.
Still, when I see grown adults riding around on tricycles, there’s really only one thing I can think of, so I made just a little edit to the footage of Solich’s race to make it perfect.
