Almost 75 years in the making… #WonderWoman is underway. pic.twitter.com/jCa0qRzuW8

If you weren’t interested in a Wonder Woman before Warner Bros. announced her inclusion in Batman V Superman and Justice League — much like I was — you might be a little more open to the prospect now. Gal Gadot seems to be filling the role nicely from the teases we’ve seen to this point and the solo Wonder Woman film looks to be treating the “origin” tale a bit differently than we’ve seen in the past, hopping from past to present.
Nobody knows if any of this will be good or worth seeing once it is set for release, but the intrigue is at least in play. The solo film doesn’t have a bad cast either, as you can see in this official press release Warner Bros. put out to coincide with the pic:
Principal photography is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ Wonder Woman feature film, the highly anticipated action adventure from director Patty Jenkins (“Monster,” AMC’s “The Killing”), starring Gal Gadot (the “Fast & Furious” movies) in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. The character will make her big screen debut this spring in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” but the new film will mark her first time headlining a feature.
The film also stars Chris Pine (the “Star Trek” films) as Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (“Clash of the Titans,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, “The Theory of Everything”), Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,” “Snowpiercer”), Saïd Taghmaoui (“American Hustle”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”) and Lucy Davis (“Shaun of the Dead”).
I’m assuming Ewen Bremner will be playing goofy supporting act who gets killed horribly (spoiler for his last few roles), but the rest of the cast might be up for speculation. There were rumors that Ares and Cerce would be the film’s villains, but that might not be the case with the absence of Sean Bean and Eva Green — a rumor that would’ve been fun if it panned out.
We’ve already gotten a look at Chris Pine as Steve Trevor so fans can probably look forward to the rest trickling out over the next year or so. It will either be incredibly cool or hopelessly disappointing, all depending on Batman V Superman.
