Derek Zoolander and Hansel might be old and lame as far as the fashion industry is concerned, but they’re still hot to the internet. Since appearing on the internet on November 18th, the Zoolander 2 trailer has been viewed over 52.2 million times. According to Paramount, that makes it “the most prolific launch for any comedy ever.”
Hmm. That sounds kinda made up, Paramount. But we get the point: a lot of people are excited about Zoolander 2. Or excited about boycotting Zoolander 2. Maybe this big announcement from the studio is an attempt to refocus attention away from accusations that Benedict Cumberbatch’s character is “a cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals” and back onto how damn awesome the movie looks.
Because come on, it does look great. Justin Bieber biting it is worth the price of admission alone!
Unlike The Man In The High Castle, this is an alternate reality I can get behind.
And who doesn’t love Will Ferrell? The movie is sure to be packed with Hollywood cameos too. The first movie had everyone from Donald Trump to the Spice Girls – check out our full list here. The new one … well, there’s already a partial list floating around but I’m not gonna repeat it here.
