Derrick Williams returned home early Saturday morning with a group of friends that included two women he’d met just hours earlier. The following afternoon, the New York Knicks forward learned that something was missing from his closet – and immediately assumed his new friends were to blame.
According to Larry Celona and Joe Tacopino of the New York Post, the women Williams met at a club while celebrating his team’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night stole a bag containing $750,000 worth of jewelry from his Tribeca apartment.
After more partying at Williams’ bachelor pad, everyone went home.
But not before the two party girls found the Louis Vuitton case stuffed with three-quarters of a million dollars’ worth of jewelry in one of Williams’ closets.
Williams checked the case at about 4 p.m. Saturday. The fast-fingered females grabbed the contents and took off, the sources said.
He realized that his treasure trove had been stolen and called the cops.
Law enforcement, the Post writes, are investigating whether this incident is connected with a string of similar robberies committed by women “who prey upon wealthy, bling-flashing men at clubs and hotel bars.” One such case involves a $590,000 watch reportedly stolen by a pair of female partiers its owner met at a strip club.
Williams wouldn’t directly confirm the story after New York’s win over the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, but certainly didn’t deny it altogether, either. “I don’t want to talk about it,” he told the Post. “It’s still up in the air.”
