Details are scarce right now, but multiple news stations in New York are reporting that Knicks forward Cleanthony Early was shot outside a strip club in Queens at approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. Early was leaving the club with a female companion when he was followed by “up to six men.” They shot him in the kneecap before ultimately stealing his chain and fleeing the scene. He is in stable condition.
The New York Daily News offers a slightly more dramatic course of events.
Early was surrounded by four to six people wearing ski masks and robbed of his items and jewelry — including a gold necklace and gold caps on his teeth, sources said. Early was reportedly leaving in an Uber cab when three cars boxed in the vehicle.
The 24-year-old Early has played in only a handful of games for the Knicks this year.
