Tony Scott, who committed suicide by jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge at the age of 68 yesterday, was known mainly for his ruthlessly entertaining cinematic work, including directing Top Gun, Enemy of the State, and Crimson Tide. But he also occasionally dabbled in TV. Tony and his brother Ridley produced Numb3rs, as well as The Good Wife, Call of Duty ELITE: Friday Night Fights, and the upcoming miniseries Labyrinth. To many ’round these parts, though, his greatest TV contribution was giving Sterling Archer a catchphrase with “Danger Zone” from the Top Gun soundtrack, the music video for which he also directed. For that alone, he’s a legend — the fact that he went on to direct True Romance only enhances his legacy. R.I.P. Tony. (Via)
