Paul McCartney is one of the most venerated and successful living musicians. He will go down as one of the greatest icons in the history of the concept of music. He can do what he wants with his life. He can do nothing if he wants, and just be revered and canonized for everything he has done. He’s not doing that, though. Instead, McCartney is making music for something called “Love Mojis,” because the world is, eternally, a strange place.
What are Love Mojis, you are presumably asking, as a reasonable yet curious person? Well, it seems that Skype has created some romantic animated emojis, one presumes for Valentine’s Day, and these are the Love Mojis in question. Said Love Mojis are set to music, and the music is provided by McCartney. You know, the guy from The Beatles. On his website, McCartney explained his part in the project by saying:
“It turned out to be a great laugh at the same time as challenging because you suddenly realise you’ve got to compress a musical interpretation of an expression into less than five seconds. It was like doing a huge crossword puzzle and coming up with all these solutions. And at the same time it was musical so it was great practise for me in the studio.”
Well, at least McCartney seemed to have fun, and also got some practice in. He certain needs it. However, McCartney, gentleman that he is, did not merely leave it at that. He also gave Noisey an extensive interview about his work on these Love Mojis that should give you plenty of insight into his thought process. Also, he talks about Kanye West. That guy’s a pretty popular topic on the internet.
