There’s A Petition To Get Deadpool To Host SNL, And It’s Gaining Steam

It came, it conquered the box-office like no R-rated film ever before, and then… Deadpool ate a Hot Pocket®. It feels good, after years of frustration, that when a proper Deadpool movie (finally) was (properly) brought to the big screen – it dominated. It dominated so hard. But now is not the time to rest on your laurels if you’re a Deadpool fan – the fourth wall must be broken down to a degree that has never before been considered.

Yes, Deadpool must host Saturday Night Live. A Change.org petition demanding an appearance from the world’s new favorite anti-hero has been making the rounds, and has already garnered thousands of signatures. The petition, made out to Ryan Reynolds, SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels and NBC reads:

How would this not be hilarious having Deadpool in sketches, breaking the 4th wall, and inserting some of his brand of humor (obviously toned down a bit for network television)!?!?! I have not watched a full episode of SNL in years because I just haven’t been able to stomach an entire episode, but having Deadpool host, star, and be all over the episode would get the DVR set so I can watch it again and again!!! Not to mention, depending on the musical guest, how awesome would it be to have some Deadpool interpretive dancing while the musical guest was playing? There’s unlimited possibilities!!!

This would be seismic for the entertainment industry, especially considering the only host of SNL that was “in character” that I can recall was Andrew Dice Clay in 1990. But that example doesn’t even hold a candle to something like Deadpool hosting. This would be unprecedented. A fictional character, hosting Saturday Night Live, creating comedy, performing in sketches, and also likely doing something Lorne Michaels wouldn’t want – playing to the camera (and maybe killing a cast member).

Will the fact that Ryan Reynolds, Lorne Michaels and Deadpool are all Canadian help the cause? Pandering to the good people of the north and polite and brotherly bond surely won’t hurt. Anything is worth a try to make this happen.

Make sure to sign. Deadpool deserves this.
