Rihanna was supposed to perform at the 2016 Grammys, but it unfortunately was not meant to be. At the last minute, she had to cancel under doctor’s orders. However, she has now reemerged to make her first performing appearance since the Grammys no-show at the 2016 BRIT Awards on Tuesday. This was her first public performance since the release of ANTI.
If you don’t know, the BRIT Awards is the British equivalent of the Grammys, but with less LL Cool J, and the stage was grand for Rih. The pop megastar began by performing the opening song off ANTI, “Consideration,” which she also brought guest vocalist SZA out to partake in. However, let us not bury the lede here, because she also performed “Work” with a surprise appearance from none other than Drake.
This is the first time Rihanna and Drake have performed “Work” together live and the track is currently topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts, so surely a lot of folks are enthused to see the two team up live, even if it’s at some award show thousands of miles (or kilometers) away.
She may have no showed the Grammys, but Rihanna still knows how to put on a show, especially if you like weird lighting and choreography. And who doesn’t?
