I would say the late-90s are back in style, but did stylishly ripped jeans, overpriced diet plans, and incredible genre shows ever really leave our hearts? In any case, some pop culture favorites from over a decade ago are just now setting up shop again with revivals and renewed relevance. Other TV shows from way back when never truly left their position at the top of the list of favorites. Exhibit A: The casts of both Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer recently reunited with fans at a convention in Paris. All the reminders of your teenage years took the stage in one big group and basically formed the greatest network crossover that didn’t happen 15 years back.
The convention was appropriately titled “Witches vs. Vampires,” which could double as a descriptor for most pop culture phenomenons in recent memory, so (luckily) the event invited the casts we all love the most (or at least, many people love the most). It’s good to see Nicholas Brendon back out and about at fan events after his run in with the law at a convention a few years ago, and with the majority of Buffy favorites at his side. Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) posted a photo with the Xander actor with the adorable hashtag #Cander to remind you ow great they were acting opposite each other on the show. Most of the Charmed cast also showed up, including original cast member Shannon Doherty (Prue Halliwell), and eldest Halliwell sister Holly Marie Combs, AKA Piper.
If any networks are looking for more shows to reboot, revive, or otherwise relaunch for a fresh audience they could do worse than bringing back either of these choices for new stories. Sarah Michelle Gellar may be preoccupied by once again playing a manipulative one percenter in great gowns, but who else says no?
