Lil Bub is a very prolific musician. At least, she is a very prolific musician for a cat, as very few cats have the temerity to dare to release any music. She released an entire album, Science & Magic, which Andrew W.K. also worked on. That wasn’t enough for Lil Bub, though, as she is now appearing on a new 7’’ vinyl with Surfer Blood.
The album will feature one song from Surfer Blood, and one song from Lil Bub. Surfer Blood’s A-side song is the fittingly titled “Evil Cat” (not to say Lil Bub is evil, but she is a cat), and Lil Bub will provide a song called “Bub the Builder.” It remains to be seen if the song will be like the stuff off of Science & Magic, or if Lil Bub has decided to explore a different sound and new and more complex textures. Either way, a safe bet is that meowing will probably be involved.
The split 7″ will be released May 13 by Joyful Noise. In addition to releasing a 7’’ with a beloved internet cat, Surfer Blood also has often performed “Hey, Sandy,” the theme song from The Adventures of Pete & Pete, in live appearances. They would be a very likable band, if not for the sketchy history of their lead singer. So let’s just focus on the cute little cat recording a song, maybe?
