The countdown for the new season of Game of Thrones is almost over, and perhaps no one is more excited for the life or death status of Jon Snow to finally be revealed than the cast themselves. Maisie Williams dropped by Late Night with Seth Meyers last night, and of course, the fate of Jon Snow came up, as it is wont to do. However, Williams is quick to remind fans that there are other characters on the show:
“People ask me all the time, and I’m just left wondering ‘what about Arya?’, right? And I’m like, ‘No one wants to hear about Jon Snow, because there are loads of other really exciting storylines that are going on on the show’, so why not?’ “
Williams, wearing a shirt with the most amazing collar I’ve ever seen, also broke down the pain of wearing her blindness contacts and explained how Arya’s sacklike costuming is really more of a blessing than she had previously assumed. While she had wished early on for some more feminine dresses and corsets, a few days in full period regalia for another project was enough to put her off that wish for good.
“I was running around with Elle Fanning in a corset — I did that for three days — and oh my god, I am going back to the trousers straight away. I can’t wait. It wasn’t for me at all.”
She also dropped a hint that Arya might not have the biggest role in season six, but that her narrative has much more direction. Hopefully she isn’t sidelined too much, as Arya is consistently a highlight of Game of Thrones. Still, a girl has much to learn, and there’s only so many floors we can watch her sweep.
