Last week the iconic artist we all knew (and loved) as Prince passed away at 57, and we’re still in disbelief. Sure, it’s nice that we’ve still got his incredible music to listen to, as well as multiple stories from people fortunate to have met the groundbreaking badass before he went to shred some place else (this Jimmy Fallon story is the latest one to pop up and it’s actually really great), but it’s still hard to accept the Purple Rain superstar is gone.

In his honor, Prince’s Paisley Park estate will be turned into a museum reminiscent of Elvis Presley’s Graceland. “We will turn Paisley Park into a museum in Prince’s memory,” Prince’s brother-in-law Maurice Phillips told The Sun. “It would be for the fans. He was all about the fans — this would remember his music, which is his legacy. Prince was always private but would have wanted his music remembered.”

Even prior to his death the Purple One was already considering turning Paisley Park into something of a memorial. “[He] was working on it being a museum. He’s been gathering memorabilia and stuff from all the tours, like my drums and his motorcycle,” Sheila E., a frequent collaborator and one-time fiancee, told ET online. “There’s pictures of him all down the halls, some you’ve seen before and some never [seen]… There’s a mural on the wall with his hands out and on one side is all the people he was influenced by and the other side is all of us who have played with him… It’s beautiful.”

Surely, it’ll be some time before Paisley Park is turned into a museum, but it’s nice to know that people have (and still are) making their way to the property to pay their respects.
