Stipe Miocic Knocks Out Fabricio Werdum To Become UFC Heavyweight Champion

Fabricio Werdum was coming home. It was his first defense since he unified the heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez, and by the looks of it, he didn’t respect Stipe Miocic. He flailed, and Stipe stepped back and clocked Werdum to knock him out cold and leave him crashing against the cage. It only took a little over two minutes to end Werdum’s reign, and stun the Brazilian crowd.

There’s a new UFC heavyweight champion, and he’s a dude from Ohio. Cleveland FINALLY gets a champion after over fifty years of major sports droughts. Unless Lebron James brings home an NBA title soon, Stipe Miocic will not be buying a beer in the greater tri-state area for the rest of his life.

So now what? Alistair Overeem is waiting in the wings, and that will be one hell of a stand up war. Stipe has only recent lost to Junior dos Santos, who many thought he beat. He has recent wins over Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski and now Werdum. There’s no doubting his claim to the belt, and he has proven that he can stand up to anyone in the top ten.

The heavyweight division just got very interesting.
