For such a sleepy-looking dude, James Franco gets a lot done. It’s almost impossible to keep track of all the movies Franco is starring in or directing, and apparently he’s added a new sci-fi project to his ever-expanding slate. Future World is a post-apocalyptic tale about a young prince who wanders through a war-ravaged wasteland looking for medicine for his ailing mother. The kid will have a faithful bodyguard, and will go up against a warlord who controls a sexy robot assassin. I can’t wait for the James Franco movie about the time he snuck into George Miller’s house and stole an unused Mad Max draft.

Probably the most interesting thing about Future World is its cast, which is certainly diverse. Franco himself will of course have a mystery role, and Milla Jovovich will appear as a drug lord. Is her drug lord the warlord from the movie’s description? Hard to say. In addition to Franco and Jovovich, the movie will feature Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Lucy Liu and Suki Waterhouse in unspecified roles. Future World will be co-directed and written by James Franco and Bruce Cheung, from an original story idea from Franco.

James Franco’s many wacky projects vary pretty wildly in both quality and pretentiousness, but I’ll admit I’m intrigued by Future World based on the casting choices alone. I mean, how wrong can you go with Snoop, Jovovich and Liu doing some crazy Mad Max-like sh*t in the desert? Okay, you probably could go pretty wrong with that, but hopefully it will be wrong in a very entertaining way.
