It’s a time-honored tradition: a bunch of famous people telling you, a not-famous person, to do something. Sometimes it’s buying a three-disc album of the greatest hits of the 1970s in a 3 a.m. informercial, other times it’s for something that actually matters. Today is Red Nose Day, the annual campaign dedicated to “raising money to help children who are most in need, both in the U.S. and in some of the poorest communities in the world.” NBC is airing a two-hour special in support of the cause tonight, with comedy sketches, stand-up performances, and short films from some big-time celebrities. People like Anna Kendrick, Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell, Ellie Kemper, Julianne Moore, Kristen Bell, Ellen, Paul Rudd, Jack Black… the list goes on for a while.
Don't have a red nose? That's ok! For every RT we'll donate $10 toward ending child poverty. #RedNose4Kids pic.twitter.com/pFgi2CrSOx

All those famous people — and many more! — also got together to mock pleading celebrity montages. Why do some super-famous actresses only get to say one word, while other, lesser-known names, like “some guy who was in a sitcom years ago and died in Jurassic Park,” get to go on and on and on? We’ll never know. But we do know you can buy your “red nose” at Walgreens, and that you can find out more here. Let’s see if this year’s special can beat last year’s fundraising total (more than $23 million!), or this musical masterpiece.
