People are so desperate — frothing desperate — to learn more details about the brand new romance between Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston, they’re willing to overanalyze every crumb of information and lap up any rumor. So when Loki himself called into Belgium’s Qmusic radio show on Thursday and gushed about his new lady love, people lost their damn minds.

The only problem was that it was FAAAAAAKE. Really, people should have known better, when “Tom Hiddleston” was asked to describe his new romance, he replied, “I would describe it as a roller coaster ride of action and spectacle and lots of laughs.” When asked about Swift herself, he said, “She is an absolute delight. She’s actually, um… She’s got such a wicked sense of humor and she’s a really fun person to have around. She’s really great.”

If anyone had stopped to think for a second, they might have realized that those are remarks an actor might make about a movie he was promoting or an actress he worked with, however many fans and even major media outlets fell for the prank. (It was later confirmed by Hiddleston’s publicist that the clip was, in fact, edited from old interviews.)

But man, pretty wild ride there for a moment, right? When we all thought an A-list actor got legit candid about his tabloid romance with a pop star! What thrilling times we live in.
