Fric Dickerson, football legend and father of Freddie Gibbs’ fiance Erica Dickerson, came out to publicly support his future son-in-law. He told TMZ that he doesn’t believe there’s any truth to the rape allegations levied against Gibbs.
Gibbs popped the question to Dickerson’s daughter, Erica, last March … so we contacted ED to ask how his family is handling the situation.
“I don’t know too much about the specifics of the situation,” Dickerson told TMZ Sports … “but I do know Freddie and I know his character … I believe him.”
Dickerson said he’s spoken to Gibbs about his potential case and offered him some words of encouragement to the rapper.
“When I talked to Freddie, I told him the main focus is to stay positive. He told me ‘I will fight this the whole way. I don’t want to go through this without clearing my name 100%.”
Freddie Gibbs has been involved with this legal battle since the beginning of June, when he was arrested for supposedly raping an Austrian woman in 2015. Since his arrest, a French judge ruled to have him extradited to Austria to stand trial. Gibbs, however, has maintained his innocence and appealed his extradition earlier this week.
It’s been a rough ride for Gibbs after the release of his latest album, Shadow of a Doubt. Prior to his incarceration, there was talk that he’d be headed back to the lab to create a sequel for the critically acclaimed Pinata album with Madlib.
