If you walked into Gucci Mane’s studio today, you’d find a wall of raps written while he was locked up. During his time behind bars, Gucci’s camp released countless albums to continually feed the streets, and the man himself was stocking back up on material as it happened. Now that he’s a free man, you have to wonder how quickly that wall will diminish?
Gucci is one of the hardest workers in the booth, and that’s not an exaggeration. Count his discography. He has more projects than some artists’ have songs. Count his songs. He has more songs than some artists have lines. Some of the raps are making it onto his upcoming album, Everybody Looking, including one that goes “do I love my bitch or do I love her body?”
Beyond the forthcoming LP, Gucci still has his ankle monitor on for a few more weeks, if not longer. All he has right now is recording music, watching Game of Thrones, and being with his woman, Keyshia Ka’oir. Those raps are going to get made through the help of his usual suspects — Zaytoven, Metro Boomin’, Mike Will, etc. — and then Gucci will start the process over.
It’s unknown how his career is going to go this time around. Is he still flooding the market? Will we see multiple Gucci albums in 2016? Or is Everybody Looking going to be the soundtrack that defines a world tour? He could get away with either angle. Gucci Mane appears to be in a good space, and what a time it is to be a fan.
