The Knicks have been one of the biggest players in this year’s offseason, but they’re not done yet. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, New York is reportedly bringing in Brandon Jennings for one year and $5 million as well.

Jennings, who averaged a nice 6.9 points and 3.5 assists in 48 games between Milwaukee and Orlando, saw his minutes drop to 18.1 per game in 2015-16. He’ll back up recent acquisition Derrick Rose, who came over from Chicago. Jennings seems appropriately excited (and keen on emojis):

It’s still too early to tell whether or not the Knicks have all the pieces to make a run in the East, but it’s not for lack of trying. New York, in addition to trading for Rose, is also pushing to sign Joakim Noah, and could be bringing in Courtney Lee too. They were in the hunt for Dwyane Wade for awhile, and they’ve still got Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony locked into starter’s roles. After hiring former Suns’ head coach Jeff Hornacek, the Knicks are looking to make a push beyond the 32-50 record they had last season, and will hopefully do enough to get Porzingis to the playoffs.
The sense of urgency is there for New York. As Porzingis said on Saturday, “I’m young, but we don’t have 10 years to win a championship. We got to win soon.”
