Kris Dunn’s Ankle-Breaking Crossover Would Make Allen Iverson Proud

The NBA Summer League is a great opportunity for young players to get some needed reps and experience before the start of the upcoming NBA season. It’s also a common place for incoming rookies to showcase the skills that made them attractive in the draft.

For Kris Dunn, one of those skills is his sick ball handling and, on Friday night, the former Providence guard gave us a first glimpse at his nasty crossover at the NBA level. It’s not hard to see why the Minnesota Timberwolves thought he was worthy of the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft.

Unfortunately for Nuggets forward JaKarr Sampson, every great crossover has a victim. Sampson’s ankles were basically turned into dust by Dunn’s shiftiness.

After the game, Dunn attributed the move to the one and only God Shammgod, an assistant coach at Providence. Shammgod is a former Friars guard with filthy dribbles himself, and apparently he did a pretty great job passing that knowledge down to Dunn.

“That’s Shammgod,” Dunn said. “Shammgod, he trained me. That’s the move of the Shammgod.”

But Dunn, embracing his status as a professional, was quick not to accept too much praise for the move.

“I missed my jumper, so it doesn’t even matter,” Dunn said.

Wolves fans are probably going to like this guy.
