Marvel and Netflix seems like a match made in heaven to many fans, with Netflix already having Daredevil and Jessica Jones as its mainstays, with spin-off series including the upcoming Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fist and The Defenders still on the horizon. In fact, Marvel is sort of building its own Netflix universe with all of these shows. Should it stop there, though? When will there be enough Marvel shows on Netflix, if ever?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the madness might never end if Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb has his way. The latest possible spin-off would be spinning off of the yet-to-be-released Luke Cage by the way of a Misty Knight spin-off. If that happens, though, depends on fan reactions and on how many shows Netflix is willing to pay for from Marvel.
“We certainly have plans for all of our characters. A lot of it has to do with exactly how many shows Netflix is actually going to let us make. We’re up to six now. At a certain point, we have to be careful that we’re not becoming the Marvel channel on Netflix.”
The first season of Luke Cage is set to drop on September 30th, which will feature actress Simone Missick as the Harlem police detective who finds herself wrapped up in Luke Cage’s world and looking for answers. Misty Knight will also be appearing in Iron Fist, so fans should get pretty comfortable with her in the coming months.
