Up until Jeezy released his summertime strip club anthem, “Magic City Mondays,” he was found holding congregation with Church in The Streets. Now the trap music originator is going all in with the announcement of Trap or Die 3, the latest installment in the mixtape series which put him on the map and allowed him to release the hood classic, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101.
Most of the time when rappers mine their past for new material it’s to inject some life into their now mediocre music, but Jeezy’s never really fallen off. He’s consistently released solid music for the past decade. That being said, perhaps he just needed to bring back the past to give him a little extra (thug) motivation. In any case, it looks like Jeezy has given up on being “Politically Correct,” and that makes sense given our upcoming election.
The first single off Trap or Die 3 is the triumphant “Let Em Know,” where Jeezy is feeling pretty “motherf*ckin’ cocky” about the decision to go “back to myself.”
“Let me tell you bout the story from Huaraches to Versaces
My partner pulled up, I had to shove it up it up hibachi
Two bones on the side, yeah you know a little broccoli
Choppers in the car, got my own paparazzi
Stars on the ceilin’, confidence is on a trillion
Where them bad b*tches at? Let me know you in the buildin’
Last time I hit the county, shit my bail was a million
Last time I hit the club, shit I could have bought the buildin'”
