As the holidays draw near, you may be feeling that special kind of panic in the pit of your stomach. Eating too much, being crammed into a crowded house, and having to answer the same questions as last year about your job and your love life and why you can’t be more like your cousin can lead to anxiety and heartburn, but FXX is here for you with a balm for your nerves. According to a press release, the network is airing the mother of all television marathons with one of television’s favorite families, The Simpsons.
America’s holiday season kicks off on Thanksgiving Day with the longest marathon in television history: FXX’s 600 episodes, 300 hour, 13-day run of every episode of TV’s longest running hit series, The Simpsons. The 27-season marathon begins at 12:00 PM ET on Thursday, November 24th and ends on Wednesday, December 6th at midnight ET – all 600 episodes airing in chronological order over those 13 days.
To attempt such a marathon will require Lisa Simpson levels of ambition, but at least you can talk about “why that Bart is so disrespectful to authority” instead of your last break up. The previous record holder for the longest-running television marathon was The Simpsons back in 2014 also on FXX, which spanned 12 days and 552 episodes. So, if you failed to catch them all two years ago, you’ve been given another shot from the television gods.
FX Networks President and COO Chuck Saftler addressed the upcoming marathon, citing it as the perfect way to honor the achievements of everyone involved with the show.
“The first ‘Every. Simpsons. Ever.’ Marathon was truly so special and landmark in its cultural relevance and impact. The unprecedented feat of reaching 600 episodes deserves something of that caliber to mark it and celebrate it. Doing this is an act of true fandom, honoring Jim Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, all the writers, artists, directors, people behind the scenes and the ridiculously talented voice actors who have brought this series to life and kept it at the pinnacle of artistic excellence these past 27+ seasons.”
So there you have it, folks. Catch some or all of the epic love story of Homer and donuts as you stuff yourself full of turkey leftovers and pie. If you can’t wait until then for your Springfield fix, the 28th season premieres this Sunday at 8:00 EST on FOX.
