Just hear me out on this one.
Let’s say, hypothetically, that you were someone who was trying to get gun control legislation passed. And let’s say you had been lobbying and calling members of Congress for months and months, working around the clock most days, trying to get the votes together. And let’s also say — again, purely hypothetically — that you made the media rounds too, appearing on various programs and 24-hour news channels to try to get the word out to the public about the nature and importance of your case, and bickering with talking heads on both sides of the aisle who continually tried to twist your words to make a cheap political point. And let’s say that still, despite these Herculean efforts on your part, it didn’t look like you’d have the votes to get it done.
But then — THEN — you stumbled across this article about two dimwitted former stars of The Hills, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, in which they yammer about being armed to the teeth and pose for pictures with machine guns. And let’s say you took those pictures, printed them out, made thousands of copies, and absolutely littered the Capitol building with them on the day of the vote.
Your bill passes unanimously, right?
