Look, I know that this is going to come as a shock to many of you, but the Juggalos — the Insane Clown Posse’s deranged fans — don’t really have much of a collective sense of humor. In fact, they’re quite sensitive, despite the rugged, badass facade they like to collectively put on.
To wit: This past Saturday night in New York, members of the Upright Citizens Brigade were supposed to put on a show titled, “The Gathering Of The Juggalos For A Mother Fucking Baby Funeral.” But the band caught wind of the comedy troupe’s planned Juggalo mockery and got their lawyers to put a stop to the whole thing. According to the AV Club, “holding a faux Juggalo funeral apparently infringes on the Juggalo brand that (members of the band) have labored so intensively to cultivate over the years, leading them to seek their totally wicked, balls-out legal action.”
Additionally, according to J.D. Amato, one of the UCB performers, there was “a justified fear that actual Juggalos were going to show up and be physically unhappy (yes, physically).” Potential Juggalo violence…imagine that.
Luckily, since UCB couldn’t make fun of the Juggalos, the Juggalos are still able to make asses of themselves with their own words and actions like they did in Tom Green’s short film on them last year, just as they always do whenever microphones and cameras are in their vicinity.
