Greece’s men’s national soccer team has punched its ticket for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, thanks to yesterday’s draw against Romania, but it didn’t come without a bit of good, old-fashioned Greek soccer comedy. As it turns out, Romania’s offense had a little problem with doing much of anything against Greece, and those ballers from Bucharest actually threw a big old gâscă egg on the scoreboard, and it only seemed like they tried to make it interesting because Greece’s Vasilis Torosidis got a little too fancy with his feetwork and scored an own goal.
To his credit, Torosidis’s own goal was pretty impressive, but I’m willing to bet that how nice it looked factored very little into how many boogers they put in his postgame saganaki.
