The NFL Is Allowing Players To Wear Personalized Cleats, And The Results Are Wonderful

My Cause My Cleats is a social campaign that allows players to wear customized cleats with messages designed to raise awareness about charities or causes of their choice. If you’re like me, your first thought was, “I can’t wait to see how much the NFL fines players for doing this,” but the league is apparently on board with it.

I hope someone wears bright yellow cleats and their cause is raising awareness that Green Bay’s and Washington’s cleats constantly look like penalty flags on the field. But I guess players won’t do that.

The Cowboys and Vikings play Thursday night so those will be the first cleats you see this week.

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is all about the kids.

While Von Miller is all about … geez those are cool. It’s about giving the gift of sight but maybe these are to promote the gift of cool sneakers so send these to me.

DeAngelo Williams of the Steelers has names of women who died of breast cancer on his cleats.

Blake Bortles is honoring birthday cake or something.

And the Cardinals’ Tyrann Mathieu is using sideline as a verb otherwise that’s a weird cause.

There are dozens of other cleats that will be on display this weekend so be on the lookout. Every team can do this so it should be interesting (unless you’re the Browns and Titans, who have byes this week).
