To quote the bard Steven Tyler, “Love in an elevator, livin’ it up when I’m going down, love in an elevator, lovin’ it up ’til I hit the ground.” Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) don’t exactly have sex in an elevator in the trailer for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, Fifty Shades Darker — they arguably do something more disgusting. At least for all the other people who need to use that elevator. For the film’s intended demographic, though (think: someone who wants to “dominate” Valentine’s Day with a suit-wearing teddy bear), the scene is just the right amount of teasingly kinky.
The second trailer for the record-breaking Fifty Shades Darker was just released, and it’s pretty much what you expect: more Christian and Ana hooking up, more “Crazy In Love,” more bathroom scenes. The big difference between the sequel and the original is that Darker looks like more of a mystery, with Christian’s ex-girlfriend Leila appearing to stalk Ana.
Ana should stay away from her, and you should stay out of elevators.
Here’s the book (and presumably, movie) plot:
Daunted by the singular tastes and dark secrets of the handsome, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle Independent Publishing House (SIP); but desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sexual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven, and demanding Fifty Shades.
While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her, and make the most important decision of her life.
Fifty Shades Darker comes out on Feb. 10, 2017, the same day as The LEGO Batman Movie. Now there’s a double bill.
