LeBron James got so bored demolishing the New York Knicks on Wednesday night that he and the Cleveland Cavaliers tried to beat the water bottle challenge during the game.
James had 25 points in 32 minutes in the 126-94 smashing of the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. With the game well in hand late in the fourth quarter, James, Kyrie Irving, and his teammates turned to flipping a half-empty water bottle in the hopes it would stand up on the court on its own.
The ESPN broadcast even commented on the Cavs’ attempt to land the trick shot, ignoring what was a blowout much of the evening to show their quest to match a talent learned by millions of high school students across America.
It’s kind of surprising to me that athletes with such excellent hand-eye coordination can’t get this figured out in a few tries. I understand it’s a pressure-packed situation, flipping a recyclable plastic water receptacle in front of a few thousand people, but not even Santa Claus was watching anymore. Make some adjustments and make it happen, King James.
Anyway, here’s the super slo mo of James and his failed attempt to land a water bottle on its bottom.

The focus is undeniable, but you gotta know you need less water in that bottle for it to stand up on its own. Typical LeBron—can’t come up with a big shot in the clutch. As usual, he had to rely on Kyrie for that.
