Six-seven power forward Zion Williamson is the No. 3 prospect in the class of 2018, according to ESPN, and it’s not hard to see why. As a junior at Spartan Day School in South Carolina, he’s already received multiple scholarship offers from several of the country’s top Division I schools, including Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina, Duke, and UCLA.
In a game against Anderson Christian on Saturday night, he dropped 47 points, which included several mind-blowing dunks. Williamson won the dunk contest at the Under Armor Elite 24 Game this fall, and had a strong showing in the exhibition itself. What’s even more impressive is that he was the youngest player at the event.
Last season, he led his team to the state championship and took MVP honors at the NBPA Top 100 camp. His overall game is still raw, but it’s terrifying to think just how good he might be after developing his skill-set during his last two years of high school and then at the Division I level. With his size, speed, and athleticism, it seems a foregone conclusion that Williamson will evolve into a potential NBA lottery pick down the line. In the meantime, it’ll be interesting to chart his growth between now and then.
