50 Cent: Golden Globes Can ‘Suck A D***’ For Snubbing ‘Power’ Again

While many had reason to celebrate Monday’s announcement of Golden Globe nominees, 50 Cent was not among the chosen few. After his show Power was left out the list, 50 lashed out at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association with a strongly worded message.

“I’m on the move again, the Golden Globes can suck a d—,” the rapper wrote on Instagram after the nominations were announced. “I accept my series POWER was not intended to be a signature show for the network but it is the highest rated show. I know my audience very well, I’m done promoting this out side of contractual obligations. SEASON 4 KANAN MUST DIE, I got other sh– to do.”

In a subsequent Instagram post that included Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the image, the rapper noted, “I’m off the POWER train, champ is gonna do the show. Go to him for more info, I gotta do something different.”

The committee may not be willing to recognize the show yet but viewers have. In only its third season, Power is currently the highest rated show on the Starz network with a reported 2.26 million viewer pull. The network decided to renew the show for a fourth and fifth season with the new season expected to air next summer. But, 50’s remark that “Kanan must die” wouldn’t be good at all. Not only does he serve as one of the show’s executive producers, his character is a favorite among fans. Not only that, 50’s used his heavy social media presence to advertise the show, in between plugs for his Effen vodka, so his potential absence could hurt on multiple levels.

“I knew Power was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with [executive producer] Mark Canton,” 50 said back in July. “The fans support for the show has been the driving force of its success and I can’t wait to bring them two more seasons full of action and suspense.” Let’s hope he cools off and realizes that just because the industry may not recognize the show’s brilliance, viewers do, which is more than enough reason to stay involved.
