Chris Cornell passed away at the age of 52 and everyone is finding their own way to eulogize the late legend. Countless friends and bandmates have come out to express their grief over the passing of arguably one of the most talented vocalists of the grunge era. And the television network AXS is paying homage to the former Soundgarden and Audioslave by rebroadcasting a 2007 interview that Cornell gave to Alternative Nation staple Matt Pinfield.
The network announced that it will re-air the in-depth interview from around the time of Cornell’s solo album Carry On and the dissolution of his supergroup Audioslave on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. EST. Encore airings will go down on Sunday and Monday at 9 AM EST and 11:30 PM EST, respectively.
Cornell’s death came just hours after a performance in Detroit and a day before the unreleased EP full of music he made for Cameron Crowe’s Seattle snapshot Singles. His death, which has been ruled a suicide by medical examiners, came as a shock to fans of his music and those who worked with him. The list of musicians who either worked with or were inspired by Cornell’s work with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog or Audioslave is long, as even a casual glance at the tributes flowing out can attest.
