We Simmed Game 2 Of The Finals In NBA 2K17 To See If The Warriors Blowout The Cavs Again

Much like its digital incarnation, Game 1 of the NBA Finals was a Golden State Warriors blowout. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving couldn’t do enough to keep pace with Golden State, and the Warriors took the first game of the series.

So let’s see if LeBron and Co. can bounce back in Oakland before the series heads back to Cleveland. We’ve pulled out the NBA 2K17 machine once again and ran these perennial finalists up against one another to see what happens in Game 2. Does Klay Thompson finally break out? Will a digital Rihanna pop up and heckle Kevin Durant once more? Only one way to find out!

Here’s the full stream of Game 2 if you’re looking to watch every dunk for yourself over on the Dime Facebook page. But let’s take a look at the recap below and see what happens.

That’s another 30-point performance from Stephen Curry. That’s a good start for the Dubs, though strangely Curry never managed to snag a rebound in this one. Thirty and seven assists is a nice game, though, and he went 6 of 11 from behind the arc. And look at that game from JaVale McGee! Twenty-one points and 14 boards is a strong outing.

That’s not exactly an inspiring line score for anyone on the Cavaliers. Not looking good. LeBron had just 15 points in this one, adding six rebounds and five assists. Not an especially efficient shooting performance from him, either. Meanwhile, the supporting cast seemed to struggle as well, as they did in Game 1. Kyrie Irving led Cleveland with 20 points and had five assists, while Kevin Love had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Looks like this is another blowout after all. Golden State takes this one by 36, a huge blowout and the second straight the sim has predicted. The Warriors dominated inside again, with 20 more defensive rebounds than the Cavaliers and 22 more points in the paint than Cleveland.

Another huge patch of red on the inside for the Warriors. Meanwhile, Cleveland struggled to hit threes when this one started to slip away. That rebound disparity really makes a difference in this one—Golden State got second chances on their shots and kept long possessions. Cleveland never could catch up.

Pretty strong shooting from Golden State again in this one. Meanwhile, Cleveland was ice cold from the left side of the basket. Even under the hoop, they’re only 68 percent in this one while the Warriors are nearly 90 percent.

In summation, Cleveland lost in most every category in this one, so let’s get to our game MVP.

It’s JaVale McGee! I guess he does belong in the NBA Finals after all! That’s a pretty smart Game 2 line right there, and the highlights show digital McGee was certainly not Shaqtin’ A Fool in this one. The virtual Cavaliers are in serious trouble heading back to Cleveland now.
