Game of Thrones has been advancing at a whirlwind pace this year, cramming in more action and winding up more plot points than any season before it. That’s extra impressive considering there are only seven episodes as opposed to the more traditional batch of ten. That means this coming week’s show is the last, and it looks like it’s going to focus on big happenings in the South as Targaryen and Lannister envoys meet in King’s Landing surrounded by their armies.
Lets take a closer look at everything in the trailer released by HBO and see what we can glean, shall we?
The trailer opens with Grey Worm and the Unsullied army assembled in front of King’s Landing. The last time we saw them, they had just taken over a largely vacant Casterly Rock only to have the fleet that brought them destroyed by Euron Greyjoy. We imagine that wasn’t a fun walk back across Westeros.
Speaking of Euron Greyjoy, he’s got a pretty big collection of ships parked in the Blackwater Bay. We imagine he and Cersei have been busy while everyone else has been dealing with stuff north of the Wall. Could Euron have ferried a mercenary army like the Golden Company across from Essos with all that credit the Iron Bank was willing to extend the crown?

A general look of unease from both Jaime and Bronn communicates the idea that things do not look good for the Lannisters should war actually break out.
Back at Winterfell, a pensive Sansa Stark wanders the battlements. If I were her, I wouldn’t spend too much time out in places where it would be easy to ‘accidentally slip’ and break my neck.
A defeated looking Theon Greyjoy drops to a knee in sandy waters. That doesn’t bode well for his sister Yara, who is currently a prisoner of their uncle Euron.
It looks like Cersei is meeting to parlay with Daenerys and her forces amidst the ruins of the Dragonpit.
The Dragonpit sits away from the bustle of King’s Landing atop Rhaenys’s Hill, one of the three major hills in the city. The Red Keep sits atop Aegon’s High Hill, and Visenya’s Hill holds what remains of the Great Sept of Baelor. Let’s hope this isn’t the next hill to be reduced to smoking rubble by one queen or another.
Here’s Jon Snow leading another pretty impressive collection of characters into a different sort of battle. Notice in the background we’ve got Davos, Brienne, Jorah and Theon. Missandei’s hair is also visible, but we can’t see Daenerys.

Will Cersei take heed of Jon’s words and come around on this proposed armistice or are things going to turn sideways and devolve into a battle? There’s more than enough time for anything to happen: the season finale weighs in at an impressive 81 minutes.
