Tennessee broke out the checkerboard design in the stands at Neyland Stadium on Saturday as they hosted No. 7 Georgia. They didn’t give the home fans much to cheer for in the first half, though.
Georgia broke out to a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter, but got a big break when Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm threw a pass that was intercepted by Vols corner Justin Martin.
It was a huge opportunity for Tennessee, who set up at Georgia’s 27. After a 2-yard John Kelly run, though, disaster struck.

That’s right. That’s a buttfumble. Namely, Tennessee center Jashon Robertso’s backside got in the way of a shotgun snap intended for Quinten Dormady. It’s not exactly Mark Sanchez running straight into a backside and fumbling, but it is certainly goofy as hell.
The teams exchanged 3-and-outs after they exchanged turnovers on consecutive plays, but Georgia did score on their next possession to turn the screws on the Vols a bit more before the half.
It’t just tough to win when you bork up good opportunities like Tennessee did on Saturday, but at least they did it in a uniquely hilarious way, I suppose. It was one of three first-half turnovers for the Vols.

Kinda sums up it up nicely. But these always end pretty wildly, so maybe it’s not over yet.
