The Mavs Beat Memphis On A Crazy Harrison Barnes Buzzer-Beater With 0.5 Seconds Left

The Grizzlies led the lowly Mavericks by as many as 19 points on Wednesday night, but Dallas stormed back late to make it a game and, eventually, stun Memphis.

Memphis took a two-point lead with 0.5 seconds to play on a tip dunk by JaMychal Green that was reviewed for basket interference (and ruled good). Dallas advanced the ball to the sideline and got a pass into Harrison Barnes, who had just enough time to catch the bounce pass and hoist a deep three for the win.

Luckily in the NBA you don’t have to call glass and the bank was open late for Mr. Barnes and the Mavericks, who stole a win in Memphis from the Grizzlies who continue to slide without Mike Conley. Barnes led all scorers in the game with 22, but that final bucket was his lone made three-pointer of the night, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Barnes’ deep three is the early candidate for buzzer-beater of the year in the NBA, and capped off a comeback by Dallas that showed some life from a squad that has wildly underachieved to start the season (even if they weren’t expected to be all that good in the first place). At 4-15, Dallas pulls even with Sacramento in the win column, pending the Kings’ tilt with the Lakers.
