Lana Del Rey lends her languid vocals to the latest BØRNS track “Blue Madonna,” the title track from his sophomore LP. Del Rey comes through towards the end, crooning “Blue Madonna in my bed now, blue Madonna in my head now,” over the minimal synth production of the electronic slow-burner. BØRNS and Del Rey’s dreamy vocals complement each other well; The song marks their second collaborative effort, following an earlier Blue Madonna single, “God Save Our Young Blood.”
The West Coast icon is currently embattled in a copyright lawsuit with Radiohead over “Get Free,” the triumphant closing track off her fifth studio album Lust For Life after the band alleged that Del Rey lifted a chord progression from their debut single “Creep.”
“Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by Creep, Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing,” writes Del Rey. “I offered up to 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100. Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court.”
Lawyers on behalf of Radiohead deny the actual lawsuit, however. “It’s true that we’ve been in discussions since August of last year with Lana Del Rey’s representatives,” they write. “To set the record straight, no lawsuit has been issued and Radiohead have not said they ‘will only accept 100%’ of the publishing of ‘Get Free.’”
It seems the saga has only begun, so in the meantime, listen to “Blue Madonna” below.
