So, Smashing Pumpkins fans, I’ve got some good news and I’ve got some bad news. First the good news. It appears that all the rumor and speculation that has flown around lately that the ’90s alt-rock Gods are planning a live return appear to be true. The bad news? The alleged tour will be missing a key member.

Today, former Pumpkins bassist D’Arcy Wretzky told Blast Echo that she will not be participating in any renewed venture with the group. From her statement, it doesn’t seem like the decision was in her hands either. “My apologies to all of the Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who are excited about this oncoming reunion tour of the original members of the band. I know this is a huge disappointment for me, as well, but it’s not going to happen [with me],” she wrote. “I only just found about yesterday that the band has decided to go with a different bass player.”

Wretzky added that the plan at the moment is for the Pumpkins, led by singer/frontman Billy Corgan, as well as original guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, to hit the road sometime this July. The trio threw fuel on the fire for this outing just last week with a picture taken of the three of them chatting together in a recording studio that was posted to Corgan’s Instagram.

What do you think? Will you still go see the Pumpkins without D’Arcy Wretzky?
