As the premier of AEW Dynamite approaches on October 2, the company just announced a match for their premiere episode that fans were excited for earlier this year: Hangman Page vs. Pac.
Way back in January at the first All Elite Wrestling rally, Pac and Hangman Page exchanged fighting words, setting off a web series storyline about Page having to diet in order to get in “full gear” shape and setting up a match between the two at AEW’s first pay-per-view, Double or Nothing.
But shortly before Double or Nothing, the match was called off, reportedly due to creative disagreements related to the other wrestling storyline Pac was in as Dragon Gate’s Open the Dream Gate Champion. Pac injured Page in a match at an indie show in the UK and didn’t appear in AEW until All Out last month; Page won a battle royal at Double or Nothing to become number one contender to the AEW World Championship.

With Pac coming off a win over Kenny Omega and Page coming off a loss to Chris Jericho, the latest episode of the Road To AEW On TNT web series announced that their first match in AEW is now scheduled for the first episode of the promotion’s TV show. So far there haven’t been any promos or vignettes for the match, just a match graphic and months of history for those who were paying attention at the time.
With the addition of Pac vs. Page, here’s the card for the first episode of Dynamite:
- Cody vs. Sammy Guevara
- MJF vs. Brandon Cutler
- AEW World Women’s Championship match: Riho vs. Nyla Rose
- Pac vs. Hangman Page
- The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) vs. AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and two mystery partners
We know that Cody vs. Guevara will be the opening match, the six-man tag will be the main event, and Jon Moxley will appear on the show as well.
